How Grammarly changed me as a writer (A review)

First off I need just to put this out there “Grammarly is awesome”!!

It’s a bold statement, but it is so true. If you find your spelling and grammar aren’t the best, then this fantastic piece of software is absolutely for you.

I first heard about the Grammar checker as a recommendation from a Facebook group, it never really sunk in just how this could work for me and the blog because you can only use it on a desktop, at the time I was predominantly blogging from my S7 Edge.

After going self-hosted I soon realised things had to change, so I bought a shiny new laptop. The first thing I did was install the free version of Grammarly.

Let’s face it we all like to try before we buy, right?

Instantly it was picking up on all of my silly spelling and grammar mistakes. The free version has helped me so much with my spelling and grammar. It’s like having a little English teacher inside my laptop.

I jumped out of my seat when the opportunity arose to upgrade to premium for the purpose of a review.

So what is it and how will it help you as a blogger?

The main gist of it is that no matter what you are doing whether it be writing a blog post typing an email for work or even updating social media, Grammarly is doing all the work behind the scenes to make sure your spelling and grammar are on point.

For example, if a word is misspelt, missing a preposition, or a comma after an introduction then Grammarly will highlight for you and show you what need’s to be done to correct the error.

Having Grammarly installed has made me a better writer which in turn makes me a better blogger. It has forced me to think about what I’m writing and improve on my spelling and grammar.

Previously I didn’t care too much about these things (I’m well aware how crazy that sounds like as a blogger). I love to write, but I don’t have the time to spend hours editing my post’s, having this piece of software takes all the hard work out of the equation.

One of my favourite parts (which is probably very sad) is the weekly email reports I receive detailing things like how many words I typed or where my biggest mistakes were. It is a teaching tool, and I am learning so much with every day of using it.

Some of the other features include:

  • Contextual Spelling
  • Grammar
  • Punctuation
  • Sentence Structure
  • Style

It also has a plagiarism checker, which will check your content against what is available on the web and a vocabulary enhancer, which will basically make suggestions to help diversify your writing.

Grammarly has changed my writing style, I absolutely recommend it. It will BLOW YOUR MIND!

Definitely want to try this out! I used to be amazing at grammar and spelling but it has fallen apart in recent years. I don’t read anywhere near as much as I used to and I hadn’t written for years before I started my blog. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
