As I type this my son Maximus is sitting in the front room busily sticking stickers to a random polling card whilst glued to a Thomas The Tank Engine movie on Netflix.
At the tender age of nearly three, he really is starting to have preferences over what he does and doesn’t want to watch.
I’d say he actually loves Thomas, he gets crazily excited if we are out and about and he spots any form of Thomas merchandise.
When we were approached by Stickerscape and asked if we would like to review some items from their new Thomas line we literally bit their hands off.
Max moved into his own room shortly after Kai arrived 10 months ago.
I had an idea to have an animal theme in there because at the time he didn’t seem overly fussed about characters like Peppa Pig or Paw Patrol. We ended up choosing bright green and yellow for his walls.
Then Kai arrived and putting any personal touches in Max’s room sort of got put on the back burner.
I knew Max would go bananas for the stickers from Stickerscape and I wasn’t wrong.
I picked a large Thomas Sticker with Maximus’s name and year of birth and a range of 20 other small engines of Sodor.
Delivery was quick after we selected our stickers. They arrived in a tube with a Thomas sticker on the front. Just the arrival of the tube was enough to put Max in a spin. We had to hide it, in the end, to stop him asking for it 20 thousand times a day.
The sticker’s themselves arrived wrapped in a lovely Thomas blue tissue which personally I felt was a nice touch.
My husband applied the stickers whilst myself and the kids were out. No way we could have done that with Max running around.
Here were some of his observations with the application:
When it came to applying the stickers I actually found this to be a little tricky. The way it works is that you run something firm along one side of the sticker (like a credit card) and by doing this, you’ll transfer the sticker onto one side. You then apply the sticker to the wall and again, run the card along it to transfer the sticker to the wall. Sounds simple right? Well, the main issue I had was that the sticker wasn’t just one sticker, some of them came in multiple parts (such as the train is one image and then its name is another). On some of them, only one part of the sticker transferred over whilst the other part was still on the paper. This meant that I had to roll it back, run it with the card, slowly peel, roll it back, run it with the card, etc. It was quite fiddly which took a little longer than I had hoped, but with enough patience, I was able to get a perfect result.
Overall we are so happy with the stickers, they were really good value for money and Max adores them. He likes to tell us the names of all the engines, he’s even learned some new ones. My one annoyance (more with myself) was that we didn’t order the extra large stickers. I’m terrible with dimensions and found the stickers were much smaller than I was expecting.
The room will definitely be Thomas themed now and we are on the hunt for extras to add to the stickers.
