A poem for Max: The Firstborn child

A poem for my firstborn:

When you lay on my chest and looked into my eye

Took your first poo, let out your first cry

The first night you slept in your room

When some kind of routine would resume

Now you are two, what a toddler you are

Some say cheeky but to me your a star

Your backchat is occasionally on another level

Times I would often call you the devil

You’ve taken on new challenges just like a pro

Ask around they all say so

You don’t stop talking, a trait of which I love

Sometimes I feel you were sent from above

Days are good and days are bad

More oft than not your just being a lad

Being a big brother has not been a piece of cake

A shining example one day you will make

You really are the best version of me

My eyes are opened, now I can see

Being your mum is the best job of all

With you by my side there’s nowhere to fall

Lots of love

Your Mummy xxx
