The Kaiser Reports : An update : 4 Months

This month Kai turned 4 months.

Here’s an update of any achieved milestones and progression from his last update.

Kai is really starting to come into his own. We are noticing that he is putting on the weight (not that I’ve taken him to be weighed). I find that if I carry him for any length of time my arms feel the strain he is what I would refer to as a “Chunky Monkey”!

Now that he is appearing sturdier Max seems to be less aggressive towards him. He now loves him, sometimes a little too much. In the past few weeks I have caught him:

  • Feeding Kai a rich tea biscuit (Kai didn’t seem to mind)
  • Try to pick Kai up (with sound effects)
  • Shove a dummy into Kai’s mouth

They really are very cute together. Max can lie next to Kai without squashing him now.

It doesn’t happen often but occasionally I will them alone.Never for longer than a moment.

As with Max I have started weaning Kai now that he is 4 months. I’m aware guidelines say 6 months but it is my personal preference to start at 4 months. We have started with baby porridge, he loves it. He actually screams for the next spoonful.

Something tells me he will love food like his big brother.

We are trying to fit in moire TUMMY TIME and this is coming along nicely. It’s tricky to get as much time down on the mat with a toddler running around. Luckily Kai has very strong neck muscles so I don’t expect him to take to long to master this new skill.

We are witnessing a big personality from Kai. He is very gobby and doesn’t shut up (just the way we like it). Overall he is a very content baby. Don’t get me wrong he also has his moments, just like any other baby.

We’re still attending Baby Yoga at the local childrens centre. He actually partook in the whole class last week, the first time since we started this term.

There is no sign of him siting unaided or rolling yet. Not that I expect there to be, he is still quite young.

We are getting through 8 oz of formula, every 3 – 4 hours and he rareky naps during the day. We dont mind too much because he sleeps during the night (I know which I perfer)

We are all settleing into some kind of routine.

Getting to know all about each other. Im really looking forward to the coming months, theres so much in store to come.

For now I plan to enjoy all of Kai’s baby charm for one day soon he will be a toddler and I know only too well what a challenge that can be.

Sounds like he’s doing great! I love a bit personality in a little one. I’m sure as he gets older that he and Max are going to be a couple of monkeys together and the best of friends! #thepod

The age gap is hard because there both still so young but hopefully like you say they will be pals soon. I think once Kai can sit unaided they will bond even more. There going to run rings around me when there older I can see it now 🙂

It’s hard isn’t it, I don’t want to discourage it but sometimes I just think poor Kai.I caught Max screaming at him the other day and Kai was loving it. Children are strange!!
