Blogger’s highs and lows of 2016 and the plan for 2017

It’s that time of year where bloggers like to write up post’s detailing the highs of the year including the goals for the following year.

What kind of a blogger would I be if I didn’t follow a trend!!! Please find my 2016, it’s certainly been a busy one.

This year I gave birth to my second son Kaiser in one of the hottest months of the year. I won’t bore you with the detail you can find all the gory details here !!!

I shortly after changed the name of my blog from Mad Max The Baby Warrior to Max and Kai (Imagine trying to buy that domain name).

This year I decided to up my blogging game and join some facebook groups. This was a good and bad idea in equal measure. Whilst I gained a lot of knowledge from these groups they also made me doubt myself, my worth and the worth of my blog.

I was just a lonely naive blogger before joining the MASSES in the blogging community. I had no clue about Tot’s 100 or Moz DA rankings, SEO and just how my crap content was probably putting readers off. I blogged because I enjoyed it not to gain more page views or to rise in the numbers game.

Follow/Nofollow links meant naff all to me and Linkies were just an alien concept.

Oh how I miss those carefree days.

September finally saw the blog go self-hosted, I was so pleased that I even wrote a mini-series about it, a normal joes view of going self-hosted. The process was pretty straight forward and I was pleased with TSO and the service they delivered.

I started pumping out a post a day and kept this up for 8 weeks. I finally burnt out just before Christmas and decided to take a well-earned break.

November – I did something I had been wanting to achieve for ages, I purchased a theme from Pipdig. I wish I had chosen more wisely as there are now additional functions I would have loved my blog to be able to do.

We worked with some lovely brands that we hadn’t worked with before, Nibbling, Miggins and B and Nimble Bottles to name a few, we also got to work with some of our older friends at Haberman and MAM.

2017 Blogging Goals

So this is where this post varies to all the others you may have read these past few days. My goals for next year: THERE ARE NONE!!! No goals no resolutions, no extra pressure to put on myself.

These past few months have been a bit crappy for me blog-wise. I’ve found myself stressing about whether the blogs any good, whether people are reading because they want to or because they feel they have to.

So here is my plan:

Carry on blogging for me, to document my children’s lives and not for any other reason. The rest is just white noise and at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter.

To carry on being there every day for my kid’s and my husband is my number one priority in my life. It’s taken me some time to realise the blog is my sideline my family is the real job.

Il just wrap this up by saying, Happy New Year.

Cheers to the readers who enjoy my blog and my unique style of writing, to you I am eternally grateful.

Here’s to an amazing 2017!!!!!
